Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is the new owner of the Manhattan pad that inspired “50 Shades of Grey,” The Post has learned. The renowned Real Madrid forward purchased the $18.5 million Trump Tower apartment that “50 Shades’’ novel author E.L. James used as a model for the notorious bondage bachelor pad of her fictional sexual sadist character, Christian Grey, a source said.
Ronaldo recently purchased the Fifth Avenue loft from Italian real estate entrepreneur Alessandro Proto.
While James has never confirmed that Grey is based on Proto, the mogul is widely believed to have been the inspiration for the character.
Ronaldo is regarded as one of the best soccer players on the planet and is a three-time World Player of the Year.
The apartment is his first property purchase in the States.
